Nomenclature

  • André Couder (November 27, 1897 - January 16, 1979) was a French astronomer. Couder was a telescope specialist who introduced several innovations in telescope design.
  • According to Whitaker (p. 236), this replacement name for a formerly lettered crater was introduced in NASA RP-1097. The name was approved by the IAU in 1985 (IAU Transactions XIXB).
  • On page 181 (LAC 90) of the Clementine Atlas (2004) the name Couder is not printed (this crater is still called Maunder Z).- DannyCaes DannyCaes Oct 16, 2011
