The Moon Society would like to save Moon-Wiki!
I'm James Burk, a professional software developer and the Vice President of The Moon Society. We operate the Lunarpedia.org wiki, which runs Mediawiki and has been going since 2006. We recently modernized the infrastructure it's running on and updated the main logo.

We'd like to rescue all of the content on Moon-Wiki and have been in contact with DannyCaes and others.

If you have admin on this wiki, can you please grant that to me so I can use the Export tools?

We are also hoping to work with the Mediawiki import script that's out there to export this wiki and others on Wikispaces. I've offered to help that team to improve the code.

You can contact me at jburk@moonsociety.org or +1 206-601-7143 with any questions.

    Thanks,

    James Burk

    Everything is gone...
Don't know if I have enough power and drive inside of me to explore the moon as I used to do in the past. Things have changed over the last couple of weeks (my father died in May, and it looks as if he took large amounts of my enthusiastic "lunarism" with him). I can't describe it. I have to search something else to fill up my mind. And... the MOON-WIKI is about to leave this world... (sigh...).

(unofficially). Albert Bernard Caes (14 Dec 1938 - 25 May 2018), the father of contributor Danny Caes. When Albert was a young man, he was a rather modest amateur astronomer and he made his own small refractor telescope, with help of the Dutch book BOUW JE EIGEN STERRENKIJKER by J.C.Alders. His only son (Danny Caes) went on to become one of the most dedicated explorers of the moon and especially of the official and unofficial nomenclature of the moon's surface formations. His father once said, to his son: "You can watch the moon whenever you like, she would not run away", and: "You should watch much more earthlike topics". Strange to say, Danny's father was an avid telescopic explorer of nocturnal terrestrial buildings full of windows. One could say that he was perhaps a naughty person, but... he was very human.
Cigarettes and cigarillos. Albert's only fault (which made Danny and his mother very angry) was his smoking behaviour (he was already a smoker at age 14), and it must have been the only true cause of his disease: it created lung cancer. The chemotherapy and the painful necrosis (gangreen) at several toes of both his feet made him really looking "like an old man" (and that's the way he felt too). According to Danny: watching your helpless father dying in a hospital-bed, while he is trying to fight his way through the last moments of his life (terminal restlessness) is also the worst time of your own life. It is a thought that will haunt you for the rest of your own days. During the last months of his existence he was unable to walk (for example: going to the bathroom was very much like hell). I want to say it straight into the face of the one who has two healthy lungs and two healthy feet, and is still able to walk on the surface of this planet: DON'T SMOKE !!! DannyCaes May 28, 2018
